Present day Afghanistan probably isn’t the most likely backdrop for a television comedy.Granted bombs, war and Jihad warriors don’t exactly scream “funny”. But throw a disparate, ethnically diverse group of Westerners into a Guest House in the centre of Kabul and that’s exactly what you get.
Expats is a lively, if not dark look at life in a war zone; a reminder that alongside allied troops and counter insurgents exists a whole array of Westerners there to help heal the nation, make a mint or escape some personal horror more intimidating than Afghanistan.
